Info on the City of Knox.
The City of Knox certainly is a nice place to live. Situated at the foothils of the
Dandenongs, many of the 137,000 inhabitants of the City of Knox enjoy a beautiful view on
the green forests growing on the slopes of the Dandenong Ranges.
The City was Knox was named after Sir George Knox who had settled in Scoresby as an
orchardist after the fist world war. Sir George Knox became a member of the Shire of
Ferntree Gully Council and later the Victorian Parliament.
The present City of Knox was formed in 1994 and covers the suburbs of Bayswater,
Wantirna, Wantirna South, Ferntree Gully, Upper Ferntree Gully, The Basin, Boronia,
Scoresby, Knoxfield, Lysterfield and Rowville.
