Just some trivia about the Knox area.

The City of Knox area was originally known as the Scoresby Riding of the Berwick Shire.

The first settler in the area, was the Rev James Clow, who established a out-station called Glen Fern in 1840.

The Ferntree Gully was originally called Lightwood Gully by Thomas Dobson Sen., who used to live in the current National Park.

The aboriginal name for the Dandenong Ranges is Corhanwarrabul: "a desirable place with abundant wildlife".

The Dandenong Ranges are of vulcanic origin, formed as a result of 5 different lava flows.

The Dandenong vulcano near the present Olinda was a companion of the Mt Macedon vulcano.

Mt Dandenong is 633 meters high.

The original inhabitants of the area, the Burunong tribe, became extinct in 1880.
